The full content lifecycle

From a need to a published video that people watch and keep up to date: the knowledge lifecycle in KnowVault.

Updated on

In KnowVault, content doesn't stop at publication. It starts with a need, gets watched, then gets updated when the business changes. Here are the five stages of that cycle, and the page that covers each one.

1. The need#

A manager spots a gap: a procedure nobody ever explained, a new tool, a question that keeps coming back. They create a content request and assign it to the expert, with a priority and a target date.

→ Request content

2. Creation#

The expert records their screen and voice, or uploads an existing video. KnowVault encodes the video, generates subtitles and a transcript, and translates it, with no action on their part.

→ Record your screen · Upload a video

3. Review and publication#

The video arrives as a draft. The author reviews the title and transcript, attaches documents if needed, then publishes. Team members are notified.

→ Drafts and publishing

4. Viewing#

Colleagues watch the video, click in the transcript to jump to the right moment, find it through search and ask their questions in the comments. A manager can also request a viewing from a specific person, a new hire for example, from the video page.

→ Watch a video · Request a viewing

5. Maintenance#

When a viewer spots outdated information, they report the video. The manager turns the report into a revision request assigned to the author, who updates or deletes the video. And the cycle starts again.

→ Report a video · Request a revision

Tip

All requests (content, revision, viewing) land in the same place: the Tasks menu. See Track your tasks.
